I used to live in fear of the other shoe dropping.

That feeling of not being able to enjoy anything going well because I was anticipating when the next thing would go wrong, the next crisis, the next catastrophe.

And I realized recently, oh, I don’t feel that way anymore.
When did that change?
How did that change?

You know what it was? I finally let go of the fantasy of some arrival point where things would just be peaceful, predictable and pleasurable forever more.

It sounds ridiculous to type out, but a part of me still really believed that I was somehow personally to blame for not having achieved a state of predictable sustained wonderfulness.

And ironically (But also not, because this IS the code), when I stopped needing things to “stay good”, when I stopped gripping out of fear of curveballs, life actually became significantly more enjoyable.

I have experienced enough challenge and unpredictability in my business and personal life (Rahu, any Vedic astrology nerds out there?) over the past decade that I think I finally realized I’m gonna be fine.
Not only do I accept that yes, of course the other shoe will drop eventually, but I also trust I’m going to figure it out.
I trust my capacity.

So, instead of trying to rid yourself of the anxiety that good things can’t last (because it’s true, they won’t last forever), focus on enjoying what is good while it’s good and building your capacity to meet challenges.

It’s working out a helluva lot better than trying to get life to go as planned 😂,
